Matthews vs Huskey
Isn’t one of the first rule of politics to not pick fights with people who buy ink by the barrel?
“24/7 political animal,” Jim Matthews missed that lesson.
Mistakes do happen though folks, and, once again, I don’t mind being held accountable, but I have to tell you, I was absolutely flabbergasted when I was called out on a mistake in last week’s column.
Seems Montgomery County Commissioners Chairman Jim Matthews thinks I’m a few bricks shy of a full load.
Or maybe more accurate for me, a few verbs shy of a complete sentence?
No, that doesn’t sound right either. He certainly must believe I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, though, because he actually said so right on camera, at a public meeting.
Apparently I’m a moron because I wrote in last week’s column that the current county board of commissioners had squandered away a $6 million surplus left by the last board.
Seems Matthews was calling my intelligence into question because he had helped squander away a $96 million surplus, not a $6 million surplus.
That’s right, $96 million of taxpayer money gone, just gone, under his leadership.
And I’m the moron?
… and there’s much, much, more.
