Quinnipiac: Hillary ties Rudy. Q: Who cares?

Sy Snyder writes, in one of those PoliticsPA mailings:

A Quinnipiac University poll released today shows Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani losing ground in Pennsylvania to New York Senator Hillary Clinton. The poll finds the candidates tied 45-45 percent, though Giuliani led 47-43 percent on May 31.

Rudy’s not the nominee, and he won’t be; however, Rudy might be the only Republican who can win the Commonwealth next November. Remember, Pennsylvania is, by any real definition, a blue State, but there is a streak of fiscal conservatism throughout, and Giuliani fits the PA bill.

Just thinking out loud, Fred Thompson could possibly win the State just by being Fred Thompson, in an RWR sense. The Democrat takes Philadelphia no matter what. MontCo and thereabouts might vote for a Rudy, and maybe Fred. But I could see Thompson taking Pittsburgh, Erie, etc. He’ll own the middle of the Commonwealth.
