SARAH Accurately Explains VP’s Role; Barry Supporters Call Her Dumb October 22 2008
“[The Vice President is] in charge of the United States Senate.”
-Sarah Palin
According to CNN and other Barry supporters, with those words, SARAH “misstates the VP role”. Really? Let’s check our governing document:
“The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate”
-The United States Constitution, Article 1, Section 3
I know that the media is really, really, really, REALLY in the tank for Barry, but this is getting freaking ridiculous. Now, according to them, SARAH is stupid for accurately explaining one of the roles of the VP according to the text of the Constitution itself.
But do they care that Joe Biden, who has been in the Senate longer than I’ve been alive, can’t even remember that Article 1 of the Constitution deals with the Legislature while Article 2 deals with the Executive Branch? No way. Do they care that Biden can’t even count to four? No, of course not.
Searching for “Biden” and “three letter word” on Google News gives you 174 hits.
Searching for “Palin”, “in charge of”, and “Senate” on Google News yields 315 hits.

The Senate has a group of rules called the standing rules that regulate Senate action.
THE VERY FIRST SENTENCE OF THE VERY FIRST RULE –
In the absence of the Vice President, the Senate shall choose a President pro tempore, who shall hold the office and execute the duties thereof during the pleasure of the Senate and until another is elected or his term of office as a Senator expires.
This means if the VP is present the VP holds the office and executes the duties. That is, the VP basi explicitly governs the Senate.

As someone on HotAir said in the comments, the Obama people are essentially saying that being “president” doesn’t mean you’re “in charge”. So if Barry is elected president, let’s tell them that that means he won’t actually be “in charge” of anything and see what they say.
