Excommunicate Nancy Pelosi

In my capacity as a practicing Catholic, I call on Nancy Pelosi to be excommunicated from the Catholic Church until a point at which she receives Absolution for her lies on national television – hateful, vicious lies against the Catholic Church itself in order to justify the continued slaughter of unborn human beings.

HotAir: Pelosi lies about Catholicism and abortion

I realize that I have absolutely no authority over who is excommunicated, but I feel absolutely obligated to voice my point of view on this matter. Pelosi SHOULD be excommunicated, and in fact it will be a borderline act of scandal by the bishops if she is NOT excommunicated.

On national television, after presenting herself as an expert on Catholicism and a devout practicer of the faith, Nancy Pelosi cited St. Augustine for an example of a Catholic authority who said that life begins three months after “conception”. But what Nan doesn’t tell you is that St. Augustine thought “conception” meant a man’s “seed” planting itself in a woman’s womb, and that the woman provided nothing when it came to procreation aside from her womb. Why did he think that? Because St. Augustine died over 1200 years before the discovery of male and female reproductive cells. How on Earth could his statements on Biology possibly be considered to be correct in modern times, when we understand that it takes a cell from both the man and the woman to produce a new human life?

On national television, Nancy Pelosi suggested that the idea that life begins at conception is just something that some people within the Catholic Church made up 50 years ago. No, Nancy, the Catholic Church has understood that life begins at conception for 150 years, since that’s when science discovered that life does in fact begin at the point of conception. It is not Catholic theology on human life which states that life begins at conception, because that’s is a matter of Biology, and unquestionable. Rather, Catholic theology states that since life begins at conception, which has been proven by science, then that human life deserves to be treated with respect.

And also on national television, Nancy Pelosi took another swipe at the Catholic Church which she is such a devout member of by attacking the opponents of contraception, most of whom happen to be Catholic clergy. Catholic theology states that the use of contraception is a sin against marriage and the family. Catholic theology has always taught this, and always will teach this. No amount of lying from you and your friends is going to change that, Nancy.
