Re: Ed Rendell & Racism February 13 2008
Well, Governor Rendell’s words were well received in the Pa blogosphere.
Genuine Jake @ Keystone Politics:
Wow. Did Pennsylvania really elect a man so insensitive, so egotistical, and so naïve?
I’m sure Rendell is frustrated that Sen. Obama keeps beating his girl, Hillary, in state after sate, but should the governor be playing the race card?
I’m a conservative white guy and I proud to say I voted for Lynn Swann in 2006. It never occurred to me that I was voting for a black man. I thought I was voting for the best candidate for governor.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Rendell, an open Hillary backer, and one of the coveted superdelegates, just base an argument about his perferred candidate’s electability on the white supremacy of the state he’s supposed to represent?
Rendell is a serious Clinton loyalist and like most Clinton loyalists will do whatever is required to move them ahead. Careers have been lost (Sandy Berger), freedom has been lost (a few went to prison) and now credibility has been lost with Rendell all in the name of Clinton.
Hope you feel good about it, “Fast Eddie”.
Seriously, that’s almost disgusting enough, and insulting enough to my state, to make me switch my registration to Democrat to vote for Obama. Who are you to say Pennsylvanians are racist Ed? You’re a Jew, and we elected you, didn’t we?
He attributes his margin of victory over Lynn Swann due to racist conservatives, though he thinks he still would have beaten a white Lynn Swann by 17%, and suggest racist white conservatives won’t vote for Barack Obama because he is black (not because he is the most liberal US Senator).
Wait, didn’t Rendell endorse Hillary Clinton over Obama? Hmmm……
So Rendell thinks we are racist. The staff here has never voted for Rendell and in fact voted for Lynn Swan so we are not the racists he is mentioning. Obviously, the racists would be the ones who voted for him. He speaks the truth, the Pennsylvania democrats are racists.
Me:
Governor Rendell is a colossal douchebag. Doesn’t he know better? or is this desperation being born out of being shut out?
While I wrote in Bill Scranton for Governor in the primary election, I stood behind Lynn Swann and campaigned voting for him. Does that make me a racist for the first few months of the year?
