PA at the Mass for Life

This evening the Vigil Mass for Life was held at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The Mass is held every year the night before the March for Life.

This year, PA had quite a bit to do with the Mass. Washington DC Archbishop Donald Wuerl spoke at the Mass, and Pittsburgh Catholics know him as the Pittsburgh native who used to be our bishop.

The Homily was given by Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadephia. In his sermon, Cardinal Rigali compared the vast numbers of people at the Mass and March for Life to the numerous tiles which make up a mosaic, in that they are all different but they all work together toward a common purpose. He specifically referred to the mosaic work of the new Incarnation Dome inside the Basilica.
