Alex, as a mother, I think reasonable bike laws are something that everybody should be for. After all, if, by some estimates, there are some 50,000 unregistered bikes just floating around the city, how can pedestrians expect to feel safe when every day it seems like you hear about one of these unregistered bike nuts barreling down the sidewalk and running down an innocent bystander?
And what about the children?
Who is going to ensure that they are taught proper bike safety? And what, heaven forbid, if a dangerous bike should fall into one of their innocent hands and the unthinkable happens? Can we talk mandatory bike locks and “one-bike-a-day” laws next?
