(1) “This Party Sucks” is a look at the history and current state of the Philly Republican party, though frankly there are elements of this across the state. (via grassrootspa)
(2) It’s good to know we have a President who won’t play the military politically. Oh wait… “Obama told Petraeus and McChrystal to “scrub” assessments“. My bad.
(3) Over-regulation is a real economic problem. In California, it costs close to half a trillion dollars a year, or nearly a third of the state’s GDP.
(4) I’ve been nearly apoplectic over Obama’s policy on Honduras. Read Interim President Roberto Micheletti’s side of the story in WaPo.
(5) You mean Obamacare really isn’t about promoting competition? The deuce!
(6) Apparently, toll lanes are racist. Well, everything else is, so why not.
(7) Why are Lib-Dems crossing over to the Tories? Watch and learn. Conservatives promoting social mobility… will wonders never cease! (Could do without the “compassionate conservative party” though, thanks.)
(8) So apparently the Soviets never watched Dr. Strangelove, and went ahead and built a doomsday device and didn’t tell us. Oh, and it’s still operational. The mind boggles. Guard your precious bodily fluids.
(9) A somewhat confused pro-Obamacare rally attendee:
“But when he was approved for Social Security disability income, he was told he had to wait 24 months before he was eligible for Medicare. Why?… The federal government wanted him to die so they didn’t have to pay for his medical expenses, and generously gave him two years to do it. Any of this could happen to anyone.”
Again, the mind boggles.
(10) Quote of the day (bold added):
My issue is with Nancy Pelosi, it’s not with the executive branch. It’s with the Nancy Pelosi-Waxman-Rangel mob, which I really think is just plain anti-business, and anti-you, and anti-me, meaning people who own stocks. And, you know, they have another constituency. It’s not the stock holder, they’re very anti-shareholder, they’re very anti- the prospects and profits of business.
And I don’t think they would even disagree with that, frankly. I think that they would say,… “Yeah, Jim’s right“.
