On this day in 1587 Virginia Dare was born. She was the first child born to English parents in America. There are apparently some who question this since the long form of her birth certificate has not been produced.
And on this day in 1934 Pittsburgh Pirates right fielder and hall of famer, Roberto Clemente was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico. Brings back memories of sitting in the right field bleachers at Forbes Field watching the great one play.
And on this day in 1941 the Phillies committed eight, count ‘em, eight errors in one game.
