Scope Creep February 10 2009
Look, I totally understand the situation in Coatesville is bad. Any town that has 18 arsons in a year is in bad shape.
But does the federal government via Senator Bobby Casey Jr need to get involved?
Casey said he had spoken with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder over the weekend about obtaining additional resources for the besieged city. Funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency is also a possibility, he said.
“This person or persons who did this has robbed these families of a long list of things that we all take for granted, not the least of which is just your own security and security for your family,” Casey said after a closed-door meeting with victims, some of whom are only beginning to piece their lives back together.
FEMA used to be for, you know, natural disasters and the shadow government when it suspends our civil liberties.
Things like that.
Why aren’t Coatesville citizens organizing into town-watches? Chester County Sheriffs? Volunteers from outside the city? The governor could send in a few dozen National Guard even.
Why does FEMA and the Federal government need to be involved?
There’s a town in Florida that wants to use emergency money to bailout the city. The quote from the mayor was something like “more homes were destroyed by the economy than the last three hurricanes!”
What ever happened to picking yourself up by the bootstraps?
