Eight Years of Class – Goodbye, W

George W. Bush. A man too classy for his own good. Over the past 8 years, we saw a man endlessly ridiculed, attacked, and accused of heinous acts by a Democrat-media complex which has now become like something right out of Soviet Russia.

The Democratic Party and the MSM have spent the last 8 years doing everything they can to destroy this man. They have not given him credit for a single good thing he has done. I personally find it to be particularly astounding to see all of the black commentators on TV, telling us how wonderful Barack Obama is while condemning George W. Bush. I have to wonder, do they really know what Bush did over the past 8 years? Here are two of the things he did:

-President Bush did more to help the poor people in Africa than any other person in history. And no, this is not an exaggeration. Under Bush, over a million Africans were given AIDS medication paid for by US tax dollars. Under Bush, American efforts to fight Malaria in Africa saw the incidence of the disease cut in half in 15 African countries. And guess who it was that brought international attention to the genocide in Darfur? That’s right, George W. Bush. It’s no exaggeration. Bush did more to help the poor and victimized people of Africa than any other person in the entire history of the world. That’s a fact.

-President Bush also did a great deal to help minorities own their own homes. Unlike Obama and friends who used bullying tactics to force banks to give bad loans, Bush increased government aid to poor people looking to buy homes, promoted the construction of more affordable housing, and helped to educate people about the process of buying a house. Today, more minorities than ever own their own homes, and it’s all thanks to Bush.

Not only did Bush do those things, he did so often in the face of protest from members of his own party. As you know, conservative Republicans usually oppose any expansion of government, even if it is to provide more help for the poor. If Bush had not done what he did to help the poor, he probably would have been a lot more popular with his own party. Instead, he chose to do what he felt was right, even if it made him less popular with his own side, knowing that nothing he could possibly do could ever satisfy the other side, which has never expressed anything for him except for mindless hatred. Because of this, Bush left office with a dismal approval rating.

Many conservatives, including me, wish Bush would have fought back against the lies, the attacks, and the hate, which men of ill will used against him constantly over the past 8 years. But Bush refused to sink to their level. Ultimately, I would have to say that Bush made the wrong choice – he should have addressed his critics – but I know that the reason why he didn’t is that he is a man of class and dignity who does not wish to expose other people as evil liars and complete frauds, even if that’s exactly what they are. For that, I salute you, President George W. Bush. Though I did not always agree with you, I will always think highly of you and I will always respect you.

Eight years ago, George W. Bush came into office promising to be a uniter, not a divider. And he did everything he humanly could to be a uniter, but the Democrats and the media did not want us to be unified under Bush, so they behaved in the most shameful fashion imaginable during his entire presidency. Their behavior was and remains so reprehensible that I have since sworn off voting for any Democrat in any general election, ever. As far as I’m concerned, choosing to belong to that party disqualifies you from receiving my vote. If you think that’s harsh, try googling “Santorum” and get back to me.

Now, Barack Obama has come into office promising to be a uniter, just as Bush did. What’s different this time? Obviously, the Democrat-MSM complex wants us to be united behind Obama and his liberalism, so they aren’t working to sabotage him. On the contrary, they have done everything they can to build him up, so much so that he has become some sort of demigod in the minds of many of his supporters. This near-worship of a politician can only end badly, and it’s one of the many reasons why an Obama presidency does not fill me with “hope”.

Tomorrow is the 36th Anniversary of the worst Supreme Court decision of all time, Roe v. Wade, which declared that unborn human beings are not people and can be killed for any reason. Tomorrow, Barack Obama is expected to once again do away with the Mexico City Policy, just as Bill Clinton did when he came into office. This will force all American taxpayers, including pro-lifers, to fund foreign organizations which perform abortions. Is that hope and change? Where is the hope in new life, Obama? Where is the embrace of change and the future of humanity, Obama? No, with one of his first acts as president, Obama is going to take us back to a less humane point in American history, a point at which men of ill will forced all Americans to fund what amounts to the intentional killing of innocent human beings.

Also tomorrow, I and hundreds of thousands of other Americans will take to the streets of Washington, DC to peacefully protest against the legalized killing of over 50,000,000 innocent unborn Americans through abortion. Abortion, which affects black Americans far more than any other racial group. George W. Bush did everything he could to stop abortion and save the lives of innocent black unborn children. The first black president, on the other hand, is ready to force us all to pay to fund the destruction of those tiny lives all over the world, including the lives of the poor in Africa. Where is the outcry?

We Catholics have a hymn called “Panis Angelicus”, or “Heavenly Bread”. The lyrics are about the bread of life that we all share at our Masses, which we believe is the Body of Christ. The lyrics are in Latin, but translate to English as follows:

Heavenly Bread that becomes the bread for all mankind;
Bread from the angel host that is the end of all imaginings.
Oh, miraculous thing!
This body of God will nourish even the poorest, the most humble of servants.
Even the poorest, the most humble of servants.

Barack Obama speaks often about taking care of “the least of these”. Let us pray that he comes to fully understand these words, and that he will change his heart and mind and allow those who are truly the least of these, the poorest, the most humble, and the most weak of the human family to come to the table and share in the communion of all mankind.
