Jack Murtha: Cuts and Runs October 31
The title writes itself.
Hilariously, he did not include pork as an issue people are talking about.
Unless of course, you’re Jack Murtha.

Please God, let this be an indicator of the Election Day results:
ZOGBY SATURDAY: McCain outpolled Obama 48% to 47% in Friday, one day, polling. He is beginning to cut into Obama’s lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all
YEAH, I KNOW IT’S ZOGBY, but still. This should re-energize us all. WE NEED TO KEEP PUSHING UNTIL THE END!!

First Obama told us that everyone making under $250,000 would get a tax cut. Then he told us everyone making under $200,000 would get a tax cut.
Then his running mate Biden told us that people making under $150,000 would get that tax cut.
And now, Bill Richardson tells us that it’s actually for people making under $120,000:
Expect the number to be below $100,000 by Election Day. If Obama wins, it will be probably reach $42,000 by his inauguration. And the media will let him get away with it.

Drudge has the story of the banishing of the heretics:
The Obama campaign has decided to heave out three newspapers from its plane for the final days of its blitz across battleground states — and all three endorsed Sen. John McCain for president!
The NY POST, WASHINGTON TIMES and DALLAS MORNING NEWS have all been told to move out by Sunday to make room for network bigwigs — and possibly for the inclusion of reporters from two black magazines, ESSENCE and JET, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Despite pleas from top editors of the three newspapers that have covered the campaign for months at extraordinary cost, the Obama campaign says their reporters — and possibly others — will have to vacate their coveted seats so more power players can document the final days of Sen. Barack Obama’s historic campaign to become the first black American president.
MORE
Some told the DRUDGE REPORT that the reporters are being ousted to bring on documentary film-makers to record the final days; others expect to see on board more sympathetic members of the media, including the NY TIMES’ Maureen Dowd, who once complained that she was barred from McCain’s Straight Talk Express airplane.
After a week of quiet but desperate behind-the-scenes negotiations, the reporters of the three papers heard last night that they were definitely off for the final swing. They are already planning how to cover the final days by flying commercial or driving from event to event.

Barack Obama has an estimated net worth of some $1.3 million. We all know what a struggle it is keeping his girls in dancing school and arugula. But still, one would think that even after paying the extravant Lab School tuition, there should still be a little bit of Obama wealth to “spread around”–especially when it comes to family.
Or maybe not:
Boston Housing Authority director says Barack Obama’s aunt, a Kenyan woman who has lived in public housing for five years, is an “exemplary resident” and only recently did anyone know of her connection to the presidential contender.
Obama’s campaign spokesman Reid Cherlin confirmed to the Herald yesterday that Zeituni Onyango, 56, who lives on Flaherty Way in South Boston, is Obama’s aunt on his father’s side.
Onyango, a Kenyan native, is believed to be the “Aunti Zeituni” in Obama’s memoir, “Dreams From My Father.”
It wasn’t until recently, when a London newspaper started making inquiries about Onyango, that Deputy Director Bill McGonagle learned of the link.
McGonagle said BHA employees were caught off guard.
“We were as surprised as anyone,” he said. “We were a little bit flabbergasted.”
Boy, you said it Bill. Who would have thought there would be yet another Obama relative living in squalor?
The Italian edition of Vanity Fair said that it had found George Hussein Onyango Obama living in a hut in a ramshackle town of Huruma on the outskirts of Nairobi.
Mr Obama, 26, the youngest of the presidential candidate’s half-brothers, spoke for the first time about his life, which could not be more different than that of the Democratic contender.
“No-one knows who I am,” he told the magazine, before claiming: “I live here on less than a dollar a month.”
Spreading the wealth around: it’s good for everybody.

Due to a collossal SEPTA public transportation cock-up / overload I couldn’t hook up with Bill Shaw and go together.
I did see him on the platform as my train passed through Spring Mill. I snapped the camera a second too late. Would have been sweet.

Veronica’s sign says “My dad was my age the last time!”….. lots of compliments and we posed for more pictures than I can count. I’m not kidding when I say at least a hundred. By this point her arms were getting tired.
The people were great, everyone was friendly, even when the conductor tried emptying the FULL train just after we boarded in Norristown.
Some more pictures after the jump.

I was a big fan of the Mike Ditka – Chuck Norris ticket for 2008, but alas…. was not to be.
But this is still good.

Sarah Palin: Paint some bags under her eyes and she can go as Tina Fey.
Joe Biden: Give him a botox booster and he’s good to go as Worf from Star Trek.
John McCain: Popeye. Enough said.
Barack Obama: Put a pillow under his shirt to make him look fat, and presto, instant Hugo Chavez.

All Catholics should watch this before the election:
“This is Bishop Rene H. Gracida, reminding all Catholics that they must vote in this election with an informed conscience. A Catholic cannot be said to have voted in this election with a good conscience if they have voted for a pro-abortion candidate. Barack Hussein Obama is a pro-abortion candidate.”

I swear to you that I saw an ad today on Fox29 with Bill Cosby.
It was Bill Cosby saying something like…
“what do looting rioting and mayhem have to do with a baseball championship?”
… and there was a pause…. presumably for you to answer.
then he says…
“that’s right. nothing.”
“have a Jello pudding pop”
It’s not online yet.
Awesome.
Ok… that last part was made up.

One man’s earmarks are another man’s jobs. Though Rep. Murtha has been criticized in Washington for aggressive pork-barrel spending on behalf of his district, his efforts have sent him to Washington for decades. Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell called Murtha a “job producing machine.” But since Murtha’s ill-considered remarks, Russell has taken a lead in fund-raising, and a recent poll showed Murtha up by only five percentage points, within the survey’s margin of error. Just this week, the Associated Press reported that Murtha brought in Tony Podesta, a high-profile Democratic strategist, to help him out of the jam.
Jack Murtha is in a panic.
Of his own doing.

State House Minority Whip Dave Argall is fearful of being left out to dry when the House Republicans elect their leaders for the next session.
I’m told that Rep Argall is trying to position himself as the party’s choice to replace the late Senator James Rhodes, if he wins posthumously. A special election would be held for the vacant seat.
At this point, timing is critical to Argall’s chances. Leadership elections are on November 12th, a week after the election, but the returns aren’t certified until end of November, early December at best.
Another factor in the mix is the late Senator’s daughter, Ali Rhodes, is the front running among GOP powerbrokers. Sources say that Argall is not the GOP’s top choice for the special election due to his lead role in the infamous legislative pay raise.
Presumptive Democrat nominee Neal Goodman voted for it while he was in the House but he like most legislators, he returned the money after the raise was repealed and ruled unconstitutional, while Argall took his cue from then Speaker John Perzel and kept the money.
Harrisburg Republicans see Argall’s list of political sins as much longer.
He voted for the politically poisonous pension increase, for Governor Rendell’s 10 percent income tax hike, the stadium deal, against ousting convicted perjurer Rep. Frank Serafini from the legislature, for slot machines among others.

I barely remember the hype when the regular ones went for big bucks…. but wow…. big bucks.
Cabbage Patch Kids for Toys for Toys:
Sarah Palin: 50 Bids – $2,250
John McCain: 40 Bids – $1,025
Barack Obama: 40 Bids – $801
Joe Biden: 37 Bids – $600
Looks like people are more enthusiastic about Sarah than everyone else!
Bidding closes on Election Day.

Cong. Murtha is in a brutal re-election campaign,” the appeal reads. “The ‘Swift Boaters’ have put up a candidate from Virginia and have raised millions of dollars against Cong. Murtha. In addition, other 527s and the [National Republican Congressional Committee] have spent millions to smear Cong. Murtha on TV, radio, and in newspapers. We need to raise another $1 million to compete. If you have contributed, thank you. We are asking all to MAX their campaign contributions: $5,000 PACs and $2,300 individual. We need money immediately.”
The pitch comes as William Russell, the once long-shot Republican candidate, appears to have pulled within striking distance of Murtha. The recent turnaround comes after the veteran Pennsylvania Democrat started a media firestorm by calling his own constituents racists and rednecks.
Murtha is apparently leaving no stone unturned in a scramble to wrangle funds in the closing days of the race. He has raised more than $80,000 in the last three days from House Members and political action committees, federal election records show. That haul includes $7,000 in checks from Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), a longtime ally.
On Wednesday, Murtha hit up another base of support: liberal activists he has championed as a leading critic of the Iraq War.

Shawn Turschak of Chapel Hill was tired of someone stealing McCain-Palin campaign signs from his yard. Turschak, with a degree in electrical engineering, hooked up a third sign to a power source for an electric pet fence Monday and also put up a surveillance camera.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported that a 9-year-old boy with an Obama-Biden sign grabbed the McCain-Palin sign and got a jolt on Tuesday.
The boy’s father, Andrew Noble, upset that his son had been shocked, showed up at Turschak’s door. Soon an Orange County sheriff’s deputy also showed up at the Turschak’s home.
Noble said his son just wanted to see how the sign was put together. Turschak said the boy intended to swap out the signs.
